MPE GROUP OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY (OH&S) POLICY

MPE Group is committed to the health, safety and welfare of our employees/contractors/sub-contractors (AKA workers), visitors and customers, and as far as practicable, provide a safe work environment at all times.

To achieve this, MPE Group will:

  • develop and maintain safe systems of work, and a safe working environment

  • consult with workers and encourage participation on health and safety

  • provide protective clothing and equipment, and enforce its use

  • provide information and training for workers

  • assess all risks before work starts in areas of operation, for example, buying new equipment and setting up new work methods, and regularly review these risks

  • remove unacceptable risks to health and safety

  • provide workers with adequate facilities (such as clean toilets, cool and clean drinking water, and hygienic eating areas)

  • maintain an effective planned approach to an efficient Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system that is compliant with all applicable health and safety laws and regulations, and with the requirements of the current versions of AS/NZS ISO 45001

  • measure, review and monitor OHS objectives and leading and lagging key performance indicators to continually improve our workplace health and safety performance and the management system

To maintain a safe working environment, everyone is responsible for ensuring health and safety in the workplace:

  • must comply with all health and safety policies, procedures and requirements

  • identifying practices and conditions that could injure workers, clients, members of the public or the environment

  • identifying hazards and risks, assessing the potential of the risk, and controlling the risk in order to

  • eliminate or reduce the risk to health and safety. If unable to control such hazards and/or risks report these to their manager immediately, and cease work

  • use personal protective equipment (PPE), correctly, and maintain PPE in good working order

MPE Group demands a positive, proactive attitude and performance with respect to protecting health, safety and the environment by all employees, irrespective of their position.

  • Continued conformance to quality management system requirements as stated in ISO 9001.

  • Continually reviewing the effectiveness of service delivery processes, and monitoring and measuring progress towards our stated quality objectives with the intent of continually improving our service to clients.

  • Reviewing quality objectives on an annual basis, or more frequently where a significant change to the operations of the business occurs, or through the introduction of new technologies.

MPE GROUP Diversity Policy

There are 2 categories of discrimination, direct and indirect, neither of which will be tolerated at MPE Group:

Direct Discrimination

This occurs when; policies, practices or behaviours specifically exclude people or treat people less favourably based on; irrelevant personal characteristics.

Indirect Discrimination

This occurs; when policies or conditions appear to be neutral and fair but in practice unfairly excludes; a person or particular group.

Modern Slavery Policy

The Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018 took effect 1 January 2019. MPE Group play an important role in respecting and promoting human rights and removing modern slavery from day-to-day business activity. Modern Slavery can include human trafficking, slavery and like practices (such as servitude, forced labour, forced marriages), the sale and exploitation of children and debt bondage.

MPE Group recognise that modern slavery is a real problem, and we are committed to working with our clients and our suppliers in decreasing this, with an eventual end. Where our policy and protocol are not followed, we will identify and act quickly to remedy to ensure minimal impact on our people, our clients, and our community.

This policy applies to all those who work for MPE Group including contractors. MPE Group works towards ensuring:

  • We prevent, mitigate and where necessary remedy modern slavery within its operations.

  • We source supplies in accordance with the obligations of the Act.

  • We are compliant with all applicable Australian laws, that may have an impact in what we do.

  • We communicate to all employees the expectations in relation to suppliers we deal with.

  • We review procurement practices and suppliers to ensure they comply with our policy.

Key Principles

  • Employment shall be freely chosen.

  • Working conditions are safe and hygienic and fit for purpose.

  • Minimum working age to be adhered to.

  • Wages, benefits, and record keeping of time worked.

  • Working hours are to be reasonable, within working limits and paid for.

  • No discrimination based on personal characteristics, age, disability, gender, religion, beliefs, marital status, ethnicity, political/union affiliation, or sexual orientation.

  • People to be always treated with dignity and respect.

  • Sub-contracting within the law.

  • No bribery or corruption.

  • Hire/procure with fairness and social inclusiveness top of mind – right person for the job, right ethics behind the service or product.
